CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Due to a sharpened strategic focus, the company is seeking a new member to join its team as the Marketing Insights Director, reporting to the Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing and Business Development. The Director will serve as the critical resource for our corporation’s market intelligence at the consumer and customer levels. You will be at the forefront of sensing, defining, delivering, augmenting, and sustaining value. Your work will guide the organization to leverage the compelling and actionable marketing insights in driving revenue and earnings growth from existing and new product platforms and market opportunities.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT MWV

  • As the tireless champion of the consumer and the customer, you will drive all market intelligence activities with a clear focus on uncovering, and actionably communicating and incorporating, the end consumer’s needs
  • Understand the unmet and unarticulated needs and goals of consumers and other members of the various value chains in defined and ill-defined markets
  • Interface with and influence top management levels of the corporation to promote collaboration, the value of marketing insights, and the actionable integration of insights for their business needs
  • Guide marketing, business development, R&D and sales activities by leveraging market intelligence to drive measurable successes (market penetration, share growth, revenue and earnings from new products) for the businesses
  • Identify strategic information needs for internal and external constituencies that are aligned with key corporate objectives
  • Guide company’s business growth efforts based on solid market understanding including end consumers, customers, collaborators, and competitors
  • Develop a staff of researchers that are the go-to experts for all market insights across the company
  • Oversee the execution of studies and research plans whose findings contribute to the development or refinement of strategy and execution plans for various business growth platforms and projects
  • Lead research design that drives broad and deep consumer insights to assist in identifying priority areas for concept development, prototype testing, and business development
  • Establish strong partnerships with key vendors to strengthen your staff’s abilities to deliver actionable and timely insights
  • Oversee the administrative management of the marketing research function, including:
    • Centrally cataloging, managing, and disseminating all market intelligence information to the various constituencies
    • Overseeing the management and utilization of marketing research budgets
    • Oversee the market intelligence activities for the company’s business interests in various countries

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • 12+ years of marketing research experience from top-tier consumer package goods companies. Additional experience in the Pharma/healthcare helpful
  • Master’s degree in social sciences, marketing research, marketing or statistics
  • International experience required
  • Must have a proven track record of intelligently using research to shape strategy and aid in the development of new products, markets, and financially-relevant businesses
  • Strong background in designing, conducting, executing, and using various methods of qualitative and quantitative primary research. Sound understanding of ethnography, attitude and usage, concept testing, product testing, volumetrics, etc. Knowledge of syndicated and secondary data sources is needed
  • Ability to compose multiple hypotheses, gather and interpret data, conduct critical assessments, interpret results, and present clear, concise conclusions and actionable recommendations
  • 30% domestic and international travel
